Sunday, April 13, 2014, 10:22:14 PM- Glad all over
Last night I watched a PBS Great Performances show on the Dave Clark Five. Excellent! I highly recommend watching it. The DC5 gave the Beatles a run for their money for a couple of years, and their music has stood the test of time.

A few things not known about the DC5:

1. Dave was a movie extra before turning to music.
2. Dave studied karate as a kid.
3. The band was formed from Dave and his fellow gym rats.
4. Dave was the manager for the band, therefore retaining the rights to their music.
5. The DC5 was on Ed Sullivan 18 times.
6. Dave wrote, produced and directed their t.v. special.
7. Dave wrote, produced and directed a Broadway play, "Time".
8. Dave bought the rights to the BBC t.v. show "Ready, Set, Go" in the 70's. This landmark t.v. show featured the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Otis Readding and many more soon to be stars.

The name of the PBS show is: Dave Clark Five: Glad All Over.

Enjoy the clip, y'all.

Boy am I glad I've got their Greatest Hits on vynl.

Monday, April 7, 2014, 5:29:00 PM- Mickey
Mickey rooney has passed away. Such a loss to anyone who has ever seen his body of work... From when he was young working with Judy Garland, to his Andy Hardy series of movies, to seeing him work on the classic Twilight Zone to his Emmy winning roll as the mentally challenged "Bill". I never saw his Broadway play "Sugar Babies", but I'll bet Mickey was superb in it as well.

He was a man short in height, but not in stature. He will be missed!

This is my favorite quip by Mickey:

R.I.P. Mickey

I know that you're going through a heart-breaking time.

My love pours out for you, Whisper.

It hurts that I can't be there with you and give you whatever comfort I can.
