Wednesday, October 13, 2010, 10:07:43 PM- Bicurran1
I have just lost my best friend. Dave used to post here as Bicurran1 although I knew him a long time before that. He helped me get through the darkest time of my life when my partner died of cancer. Dave would listen, make me laugh and shouted at me (if you can shout at someone in an e mail!) when I felt sorry for myself. He was funny, caring, understanding and he was the only man I have had deep feelings for since Bob died. Dave had been bravely fighting cancer for 5 years but it eventually won. He was 51. Two loves - two losses - one bloody illness. Sleep tight Dave x

Thursday, July 15, 2010, 10:55:42 PM- June 29th........
Two planes landed in England ............ one brought back a group of over paid, underachieving footballers. The other brought back 7 coffins each with the Union Jack draped over them. Footballers play for our country. Soldiers FIGHT for our country. Footballers give 90 minutes, soldiers give their lives.. I know who I respect more.. RIP our boys....

what a lovely day it was today! Spent most of it at an 'It's a knockout' competition organised to raise funds for the local Hospice. Lots of fun and sill games down by the river - and a bar!!!

"This young man was a year younger than my daughter - I look at her with her life ahead of her.......uni in September then later, hopefully, marriage and children. This young man will know none of that but as Lieutenant Colonel Nick Kitson, Commanding Officer, 3 RIFLES Battle Group, said:

"Lance Corporal Daniel Cooper was one of the great characters of the battalion; his sense of
humour and zest for life were topped only by his ability and determination. The consummate soldier,
he was the complete package; fit, bright and dedicated to his work. Ever cheerful and irrepressibly
positive, he shone as an example to the more junior Riflemen on how to act and what to aim for.

"Lance Corporal Cooper was cruelly taken from us while doing the job he loved. He had survived
numerous brushes with danger in this tough fight alongside colleagues and mates who respected,
trusted and loved him. The loss of a Rifleman brimming with such talent and potential leaves a real
gap in the Battle Group for the here and now and in this his battalion for the longer term.

"The thoughts and prayers of this whole Battle Group go out to his family and loved ones. We
know that they, like us, will take comfort from fond memories of a man who truly loved life and made
every second of it count. We shall continue with the noble task for which he laid down his life,
steeled by his unhesitating sacrifice and in the certain knowledge that this is what he would expect
of us.

"A proud son of Herefordshire, he will be sorely missed by us all."

Wednesday, February 17, 2010, 1:30:54 PM- a thought..........
In the end we only regret the chances we didnt take, the relationships we were scared to have and the decisions we waited to long to make. There comes a time in your life when you realise who matters, who doesnt, who never did and who always will! x
