It's 29 years today since my father passed away. We were not close for latter half of the time I knew him, but I'll still light a candle later.
I';m exactly the same regarding my father, his career took 1st place always, to the detriment of his family, I admired him but can't say i loved him, sad as that might be.

luckily I still have my mother and although she drives me batshit sometimes I lover her to bits so will cherish whatever time we have left.

I lost my father 9 years ago thus year. We never really got on, so I left home at 17 and didn't have much to do with him for years. Tried to mend bridge's at the end but you can't turn the clock back.

As the old saying goes, fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, I was far more close to my mother, I try to treat both my daughter and son alike, I have NO favourite, they know how much I love them.
